All ground floor doorways are extra wide, and all controls, light switches etc are sited so anyone can use them.

La Chapelle near Montoire, Loir et Cher.  La Chapelle is a charming stone farmhouse, full of character, set in 4.5 acres of private garden and orchards in an unspoilt part of the Touraine.  Our spacious livingroom has a very high ceiling with exposed beams, a magnificent 9ft oak table for meals and games, new sofas and armchairs and a large fireplace for use in the winter months.  With bedrooms at both ends it can suit 2 families.  Our newly converted barn alongside (if required at extra cost) can sleep an extra 4 persons, it is ideal for in-laws or grandparents like us who are not so keen on 6am activity! It is well furnished, 5 bedrooms (6 new beds this year), 3 bathrooms, large well equipped kitchen with breakfast/dining table, new gas cooker (electric grill), large fridge/freezer, extra small fridge, microwave, magimix, toaster, coffee machine and dishwasher etc.  Clothes washing machine and tumbler dryer in adjoining laundry room.  White linen is provided for the new duvets together with towels and bath mats etc.   2 cots and 2 highchairs are available, also CD player.   Our house is organised so that it can be enjoyed by two families with 2/3 bedrooms and a bathroom at each end separated by the grand salon/sittingroom.  The  double bedroom, a twin room, bathroom (with shower above the bath) and separate WC are upstairs at one end of the house and on the other side of the sittingroom there is a double bedroom and bathroom with WC (shower above the bath) downstairs and a bedroom with three beds upstairs.  We have just converted a downstairs study into an extra twin bedroom with en suite bathroom (walk in shower, basin and WC).  The 2 downstairs bedrooms have doors opening directly onto the garden.  There is oak parquet flooring upstairs and antique tiled flooring throughout downstairs.  There are lots of books in the house and a variety of games for children.   Our wonderful heated pool (11m x 5m),  terrace and lawn is surrounded by a secure fence with gates for child safety. The house is surrounded by more lawns, flowerbeds and orchards.  A BBQ, garden furniture, sun loungers, parasols, croquet set, boules, child's cricket set  etc are all provided.   The garden captures the sun all day long and cars are a rarity along our little road.  Help yourself to cherries, greengages, plums, apricots, grapes, walnuts, apples and pears if they are ripe during your stay with us.  Central heating and logs for the fire are available at cost.  Electricity is included in the rental and  our telephone is available.  We are very lucky to have Albert and Annick Guerin, close neighbours, as our caretakers and friends.  They do not speak english but have no trouble in understanding what is needed!

The comfortable, pretty living/dining room has a solid oak fire surround with a woodburner which makes the gite wonderfully warm and cosy during those chillier months. It is well furnished and includes English TV, a dvd and video player as well as a cd player. Upstairs, there are 2 delightful bedrooms with comfy beds and both bedrooms have original oak beams and views over the woodland at the front of the gite. One has a double bed and the other has twin beds. You can enjoy your breakfast just outside the gite in your own private sun-trap. Also, at the front of the gite, you have your own private garden terrace with woodland views for your exclusive use equipped with patio table,chairs and a barbecue so that you can make the most of the sunny days and warm evenings enjoying good French food and fine wine, with just the relaxing sounds of the birds and nearby river. 'La Roche' has received an impressive 3 stars by the Deux Sevres 'Prefecture' authority. It is our beautifully renovated 4 bedroom gîte. Also, thoughtfully furnished to high standards and with comfort in mind. Downstairs there is a shower room with electric shaver socket, separate toilet and 2 pretty bedrooms, one double and one with twin beds. The hallway has the unusual and distinctive feature of the granite bedrock of the hillside forming part of the exterior wall. Upstairs there is a second shower room with toilet and 2 further bedrooms which feature original oak beams. The stunning wood-panelled double bedroom overlooks the woods and lake to the front of the property and the fourth bedroom with bunk beds is accessed via the double bedroom and overlooks the fields and trees at the rear of the property. Also upstairs, on the same level, is the spacious, open-plan, well-equipped kitchen area overlooking woods and fields to the rear of the gîte with the sitting room/dining area at the front, enjoying marvellous views over the nearby lake and surrounding country-side. 'La Roche' is well equipped with gas cooker, fridge-freezer, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, English TV, cd player and dvd player with a selection of DVDs to keep the children entertained while you have a well-deserved ly-in. From the living area, the patio doors lead you to your own private, fully equipped patio/barbecue area-great for relaxing in the evening sun with a bottle of wine and some good French food. This can also be accessed via your private entry at the side of the gîte. The grounds surrounding the gîtes include our beautiful pool area where you can enjoy the sun all day on our spacious, decked sun terrace with sun beds and fantastic views over the surrounding countryside. The pool measures 9m long x 4.6m wide x 1.2m deep. Behind the gîtes you can relax on one of the benches and take in the fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. We also have a large games field where we have outdoor table-tennis, volleyball, boules, badminton, volleyball, basketball, football and various bats & balls available. A cot and highchair are available for either of the gîtes on request but please supply your own cot bedding. There is a stairgate fixed at the top of the stairs in both gîtes. We have deliveries of fresh croissants and bread from the local boulangerie every morning (except Thursday) during July and August. The owners, Peter & Karen are available on site to offer help, suggest suitable places for eating out/shopping etc and to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The total surface is of the flat is 31 m2, plus the balcony: 10 m2 Being on the first floor (second level) you are withdrawn from the street, and the flat is not too close to the casino and the fun fair, so it is quiet. We don't have many photos of the inside of the flat because we've just bought it and will change the decoration anyway. We have a house in Chatelaillon of which you can see the photos on Vakantiehuis (ref. 30849P), so it will give you an idea of our tastes!

Our holiday cottage, called "Hameau Du Pré, has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and comfortably accommodates up to six people. This stone built property has only recently been fully renovated to a high standard and is fully double glazed. With the woodburning stove and electric heating in all rooms it is cosy all year round. This cottage sleeps 6 people very comfortably. All the bedrooms are on the first floor. Bedroom 1, the Plum Room, has a double bed, wardrobe and two bedside tables with lamp. The room has beams from the original barn in the ceiling. Bedroom 2, the Blue Room, has two single beds plus a cot for the baby if needed. You will also find a wardrobe and bedside tables with lamp. Bedroom 3, the Green Room, also has a double bed, two wardrobes and two bedside tables with lamps. Again you will find original beams in the ceiling and a window with a wonderful view over the garden. The first floor bathroom has a shower, wash basin and is fully tiled throughout. There is a separate toilet. On the ground floor is a large family bathroom where you will find a full bath with shower over it, wash basin and storage shelves for your toiletries. Again it is fully tiled. Next door is a separate toilet. The living area is very spacious and includes two sofas (one a sofa bed), an armchair and coffee table. There is a television and video player with plenty of videos to watch. The room is nicely decorated with bright cheerful colours, and French doors lead out onto the rear patio and garden. For cosy evenings we have supplied a wood-burning stove. The dining area has a farmouse table with chairs and a bench, and comfortably seats six people. At the end is a traditional French dresser. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with cooker, gas oven and grill, fridge, freezer, microwave, toaster and coffee machine. You will find plenty of storage space and a good supply of cutlery and crockery. There is a dishwasher here so no-one will ever have to do the washing up on their holiday. We have also supplied a washing machine and tumble dryer. There is a large garden at the back of the house, ideal for children or sunbathing. It is very private, and we have provided sun loungers, table and chairs, barbecue, and a sandpit for the kids. At the front of the cottage is sunny area with a picnic table. You have a private car park space for up to 3 cars.

The rooms in the house are spacious, with original wooden-beamed ceilings and casement windows. It is furnished simply with local antiques and period furniture, but is also practical and extremely comfortable. The kitchen is large and well-equipped, not least because we frequently have cookery photo shoots there. We have had many an enjoyable evening with a BBQ and a few drinks.  
The heated above ground pool is made of teak to fit in with the surroundings in the orchard. The pool is open from May - September. 
 
The gardens are the ideal place to relax by the pool, have a picnic under a tree, or just sit and read a good book while drinking a glass a wine.  
There is a 14ft trampoline with safety nets, badminton, swings, boules, swing ball, football net, and basketball in the gardens, along with numerous games.
In the covered veranda there is table soccer, table tennis and a darts board. The gardens are large and safe enough for children to play. 

Down the lane there is an 18 km Patrimoine walk through lovely countryside.
Bikes can be hired daily or weekly and are delivered and picked up from your cottage.

The Longhouse is built of pink granite and is the left-hand half of an old Breton longhouse. It is about 200 years old and used to be the boulangerie for the local villagers. The ground floor consists of a huge tiled open-plan kitchen/dining-area/lounge and a utility room with toilet, basin, washing-machine and ironing facilities. There are french-windows leading from the kitchen/dining-area out onto a patio with garden furniture for eating meals outside. The kitchen is very well-equiped with gas cooker, microwave and dish-washer and there is a large dining-table with seating for 14. The spacious and attractive open-beamed lounge is dominated by the huge original granitefireplace with wood-burning stove. On the first floor are a bathroom with bath, sink and WC and 3 bedrooms one with 2 single beds, one with a double bed and one with 2 sets of bunk beds and a single bed. The bunk room is fitted with dark curtains to improve your chances of a lie-in and also has children's books and toys! On the first floor and in the attic we have kept the original varnished wooden floors apart from the bunk room but all bedrooms have rugs. In the attic are 2 further bedrooms and a shower room with shower, sink and toilet. These have attractive wood-panelled ceilings and one has a double, a single bed and a cot while the other has a double bed. �The house is fully CENTRALLY HEATED and is ideal for Christmas and New Year breaks.

Although the villa has no pool, there are 3 good places to go for a swim just 10-30 minutes away: Mirambeau (10 mins) has a good sized outdoor swimming pool, ideal if you just want to pop down for a quick swim before lunch; Jonzac (20 mins) has the brand new Les Antilles complex with year round tropical warmth : an upmarket "Center Parcs" type development, offering indoor/outdoor swimming pools, beaches, tropical gardens and lagoon - and much much more, whatever the weather outside; and Meschers (30 mins) has a lovely beach, followed by the enormous beaches of St.Georges, Royan and the Cote Sauvage as you travel further north! The cottage is in the centre of a peaceful traditional French seaside village and is situated on the road leading to the beach. Les Pommiers is a newly restored gite, within an old stone and beamed barn. The south facing door opens on to a walled south-facing courtyard, enclosed and gated (where you can also park your car). Les Pommiers is a studio gite with mezzanine bedroom. The property has a walled courtyard with off-road (gated) parking and large, sheltered, walled orchard - very secure for young children. Next door to Les Pommiers is Les Mimosas (please see separate entry 3673). If two families or friends are staying in both properties, they may be linked by an internal garden gate (safe from road) - ideal for a young family and grandparents. Ideal for lazing in the dunes, launching your boat from the St Georges quay, trekking on horse back, or cycling and walking along the miles of sandy coast, our cottage is also well placed to explore the Normandy bocage and visit the chic sailing resorts of Barneville Carteret and Portbail. Inside Les Pommiers is a mezzanine with double bed, bedside cabinets and good reading lamps. This is reached by a short flight of 'grenier' (attic) stairs - these have narrow treads. The front door opens onto a very sunny and enclosed courtyard where you are able to park your car if you wish. There is a gate into the pretty walled orchard that is completely enclosed and safe for small children to play. L’Auvergne looks across a gently-sloping valley, dotted with oak coppices and meadows of beautiful cream and brown Normandy cows - les vaches Normandes. L’Auvergne is home to Toulouse geese, Muscovy ducks and often ducklings and nests of eggs - hatching in spring and early summer. Two small dairy and beef suckler herd farms lie on either side of the meadow with outdoor calving. The self-contained holiday accommodation, with private meadow for guests, adjoins the owners' 18th century stone farm cottage. Guests are able to enjoy circular walks (it may be possible bring your pet - please enquire and we can discuss) along deserted lanes, beginning with a bridle path only accessible on foot or by bicycle – in spring and summer carpeted with foxgloves, primroses, wild orchids and honeysuckle. Popular with walkers and naturalists, the valley boasts barn owls, tawny owls, buzzards and sparrow hawks, not to mention pine martens, weasels, stoats, hares and wild boar; the latter snuffling along the chemins at night, digging up acorns. . Golf: There is a nine-hole golf course at the seaside resort of St Jean de la Riviere, near Barneville-Carteret (10 kms from Besneville). Horseriding: Two equestrian centres nearby. Special interest holidays: If guests are interested in ducks and geese, we have a small flock of Muscovy ducks and their yearly offspring and a pair of 'retired' geese.
